FOLLOW-UP ON Converting Photos in Large Numbers

Thanks to all for help on this issue, but there’s one small problem….

I have Photoshop 6 at work, and when I try the action/batch setup suggested here, it’s greyed out.

Do I need a later version of Photoshop for these mods to work?

The commands are File>Automate>Batch…, or File>Automate>Create Droplet… Are these grayed out?
