Text Disappears…HELP

I am using PS5.5 on windows xp pro, 512 mb ram, dell Dimension 8200, 10 mb files, and a recent problem has occurred. When I type in my text- everything looks fine in the preview. When I click ‘ok’ the text processes and disappears. Layer is set to normal, image is flattened. I found that if I type a space at the end of the text – it will not disappear, however, if I try to edit it, and click ‘ok’- it disappears.

It still shows on my layers manager, and when I double click on it, the text dialogue appears and the preview appears on screen the way I want designed it. When I click ‘ok’, it disappears.

Any suggestions please?

Tom,

I hate to ask, but the text is a different color than the background isn’t it?

If you ctrl click the text layer is the text selected?

If you turn off the background layer can you see the text?

Does it still happen if you start with a new file?

I must say I don’t believe I have seen this particular problem before but when all else fails resetting the preferences is your best bet. You did say it is a recent problem so chances are it is just a small glitch.
