ANyone else out there trying to make stunning images for web pages and struggling with how to set the D100’s settings?

I’ve come up with:

shoot raw
shoot largest size
sharpen in camera on high

and then all the usual good rules of photography, lighting, contrast etc.

It makes me crazy to see the loss of resolution I get when I convert to RGB and reduce the size of the image.

Any pros out there with suggestions?

Thanks,

Jean

Use Nikon Capture to convert the raw file – at the size you want to use it on the web and save it out from Nikon Capyture as a TIFF. Do any other work which you want to do to the image (it will probably need a little unsharp masking (try 75-150% depending on image size/0.3 and 0 threshold). Convert to sRGB and then use Photoshop’s Save for Web feature. —

‘Cos NCapture was the software I cut my teeth on when I bought my D1X (when ACR was just a gleam in Chris Cox’s left eye) – I personally find it is extremely quick and responsive and very intuitive to use. —
