Other than using the clown tool, are there any unique ways to remove shadows from a photograph?

what version of ps do you have? the "clown" (clone. nice type though!) tool works. 🙂 in 7 you have the healing and patch tools. in 8 you have the shadow hilight filter. also do you mean shadows from a specific object (ie a person standing casting a shadow)? or overall image is dark/shadowy?

Sorry about "clown" instead of clone! I have version 7. What is version 8? Thought that the new version was photoshop cs.
