Is the sidecar .XMP file used with PSD files or just when reprocessing RAW images in PS ?

Is the sidecar .XMP file used with PSD files or just when reprocessing RAW images in PS ?

It just saves the processing info you used with the RAW file and isn’t used by the PSD file.
