automate an import of multiple images into layers

Is there a way in which to automate an import of multiple images(jpegs) into a single opened psd file as layers?
I see there is a script to convert a layered psd file into seperate saved flat files. But can I do the reverse.

I’m using Photoshop CS.

To the best of my knowledge you cannot *easily* automate this. I don’t know squat about PS CS, but through version 7, you can’t do it using standard actions/batch commands. You might be able to accomplish this via the Scripting Plug-in. There’s a forum specifically for scripting, so you may get a better answer there.
