This used to work… I could open the file browser, select a folder, and tell it to build thumbnails. The Preference to do this in the background was checked and off it would go while I carried on, albeit a bit more slowly.
Today I moved some folders with images to a different location. I told the browser to purge the cache and started the background thumbnail creation process. However, it seems not to be running in the background… the Windows hourglass replaces the usual cursor and I cannot do anything in PS (CS).
What might have caused this change in behavior?

Reverse the username in my email address.
