Microtek and Digital Ice

I’ve got a Nikon film scanner and consider "Ice" a godsend. Would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has used same on a flatbed. I can’t say I know much about Microtek who seem to be at the forefront. Any words of warning? Advice? Alternatives?

I have an Epson flatbed with ICE. It does a top rate job but adds about 60% to the scan time. There is no other alternative I’ve tried that comes anywhere near ICE for dust removal. Scratches are another thing altogether.

It doesn’t do well well with scratches? Canon, Microtek and Epson all boast about scratch removal for their ICE scanners. What I’m looking for is a unit that will detect and correct cracks in old glossy pics, and maybe make me coffee in the morning.
