Why is this? Every four to eight weeks I launch Photoshop 6 and get a dialogue requiring me to choose colour settings. Then, all my palette preferences are reset. It is very unnerving to know that my preferences and colour settings are so fragile.

Scott,

Is it possible that every 4-8 weeks you close down the machine without closing Photoshop first?

also every time you change screen resolution the settings will go to default to that resolution. set up workspaces for each resolution you use. (1024×768 or 1280×1024 for example).

Len:
I shut down my computer once a week – on Friday. I close all applicaions before shutting down.

Dave:
I use only one resolution, no others. I do not use any applications or games that would alter that resolution. Odd that there would be more than one default setting for filters and colourspace options in my info palette for each screen resolution. I don’t buy that.

have this problem too–i use a secondary monitor with my laptop, which would make one think that each time i disconnect it is when the problem crops up. but this isn’t the case. (and as far as i know workspaces only save palette locations, not preferences…?)

it’s at totally random points. sometimes i just restart, and photoshop suddenly forgets all its prefs. i’m using PS7 with XP.

glad to hear that someone else is having this problem–hopefully we can get it figured out.
