Had a lot of help with my web page questions but still cant work it out. All the books i have suggest an elastic table is my best shot. But none of them tell me how to do it. I sure as hell cant work it out. The page i craeted is 768×512 as suggested.
nothing to special with the page so it shouldnt be a problem. Surly 1028×768 has long replaced 800×600 as the average browser res ! Thanks again

Try using Macromedia Flash
Then you will have all resolutions in one.

no offence craig….but you might have better luck if you post to either the dreamweaver or flash group….i think the DW would be the best route….dunno what program you are using to do you site with

It works using nested tables. So, for example, you set up a master table at the size you want. Inside the master table you set up three tables.

Using your size as the example:

Master table 768×512
Table A 100×512
Table B 568×512
Table C 100xx512.

Next, you set table properties for the central table to a percentage, say 90%. Now, your central table will expand and contract to show 90% of whatever the screen size is, and where you have nothing in the outside tables (A & C) it will push them out of the way. The reason for the outside tables is to give the middle table somewhere to expand into.

Easy really. 🙂

Create a 1-cell 1-row table 10 x 10 pixels in size for instance and it will grow depending on the size of the pic you’re showing in it. I assume you use javascript to check for screen size?
