Missing JPEG save option

If I open a jpeg file and make some mods, and want to save it as a jpeg, no problem, JPEG is on the drop down save menu under save as.
If I open a tiff, or .CRW file, and want to save it as a jpeg, it is not a drop down option under save as. Did I miss something when I loaded CS onto my system?

Make sure you have set the color mode to RBG, NOT "indexed". Can’t save an "indexed’ color image as jpg.

Opening a gif should result in setting the mode to "indexed" automatically, hence the loss of the jpg save option UNLESS you change the mode manually.
