I am trying to decide what video card to use in a new system that will be used with Photoshop CS. My only choices are a Quadro FX1000 or FX3000. The FX3000 is considerably more expensive. Will it provide a noticeable performance benefit with Photoshop? Thanks.

doubt it. ps doesn’t use any of the 3d functions. might be nice if you’re going to run games though…

No. I’d even go for a cheaper card if it was possible. those cards are optimized for 3d. The videocards don’t do any calculation for Photoshop…

Robert,

The high-end 3D cards won’t get you much in the way of PS performance simply because Photoshop doesn’t need to. If you’re looking to build the fastest PS machine than buy a card with the best 2D performance. Matrox has been trumpeted as being the best in this space leaving the 3D world to nVidia and ATI.

Dave,

The Quadro cards actually suck at games compared to the consumer line of cards nVidia produces. Quadro cards are designed for 3D and CAD workstations and optimized for this environment.

ahh… glad I got an ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro then! 🙂
