Is there a set of three numbers that usually works for most photos (amount,radius,theshold). I seem to just slide all three haphazardly. It’s hard to tell if it’s better than the original or not.

I start with 100, 1.0, 0 – then I adjust the first one. As I make adjustments I toggl ethe "preview" checkbox to see how the image changes.

Another technique I use is to work on a [merged] copy layer and do severe sharpening. Then I back off the opacity. This gives you some after-the-event tuning.

But that’s just me.

I agree w/colin… except I start w/.6 for the radius instead of 1.0. 1.0 seems a bit heavy for me, depending on the image of course. your milage may vary. 🙂
