Cutting out part of detailed image

I have a very detailed image…I need to cut out a portion of it, and I need it to have sharp edges. It is a plate of nachos on a table with a napkin and so forth. I just need to plate of nachos to be placed on a white background. Please help.

Select it. Probaby magnetic lasso followed by quick mask selection mode to touch up selection.
You say "sharp" selection, but you may find that feathering 1-3 pixels will be better.
Once selected edit/copy and edit/paste into new white background document.
