Opening RAW files in PS7

For the first time I’ve used the RAW format for images using a Canon G1. I have now discovered that PS 7 doesn’t see these files although Irfanview can open them without trouble. Is there a plug-in to work with RAW files? Is it specific to the camera maker? If so would it be on Canon’s site or some place else?

there is a program called photoshop raw or adobe raw… costs about $99 I think…

canon supplies one with your camera. you can download it from their site for free

PS8 will handle that from what I understand
Should be out soon.
