In explorer the .psd files show up as small thumbnails in the main window but when I select an individual file only some of them show up in the prefiew on the left. If I open Photoshop 7 and resave one of the files that will preview then the preview will stop working.

I have lost explorer previews before for things like .jpg and got it back by putting in the correct registry entry. I have tried that for this but no luck.

I just find it strange that only some images preview and some dont. All the images were created from the same source and have the same settings.

Have you tried Photoshop 7.01?

reinstall ps & the update and see if that clears it. maybe something got overwritten when you installed the win2k service pack.

reinstall seems like it is a quick fix. less that 2 or 3 minutes on my system.

This is caused by a bug in PSICON.DLL which Adobe attached to IE. When IE sees a .psd file it calls PSICON.DLL to display the tumbnail. IE will also crash because of this bug. I reported this and Adobe in January 2003 and they reporduced the problem in April 2003, not too quick. I also reported it to Microsoft who isolated and reproduced the problem in February 2003. Adobe is currently refusing to fix it or talk about it. Maybe if more people call them and complain it will get fixed.
