Problem with status bar in P7 after installing XP SP 2

I have recently installed Service pack 2 for XP and some file called GDI+ something. Now when I´m launching Photoshop 7 the status bar begins to load but then disappears. I´ts really frustrating because have no possibility to check out my memory usage and so on. Can somebody help me?
