I recently upgraded to 4GB RAM. When trying to reset the Windows paging file, I tried to enter 2X RAM, or 8,192MB for the initial and maximum sizes. Windows says I must enter an amount less than 4,096MB. My question is: Would I be better off letting the system manage the paging file size, or entering a value less than 4,096?

My understanding of this is that if you specify the same number for max and min sizes, you create a static file, which boosts performance a tad.
You lose this incremental if you select let Windows manage it.

Also, you should place it so it’s not on the same drive as the PS scratch file.

Thanks, Art. I’ve got it set to 4095MB initial and maximum, and yup, it’s on a different drive than PS scratch. Everything seems to be running fine, but not having had more than 2GB RAM in the past, I was just curious about the Windows limitation on page file size.
