photoshop 6/ umax scanner

I have used photoshop 4 for scanning but am trying now to use photoshop 6.0
I have downloaded the drivers and installed them from the umax site for my scanner, but am having no luck.
Is there something I do not know?

What system are you using.

if its Classic in OSX forget it.

you need Vuescan

Oh, no. its actually OS 8.6 on an old fashioned G-4

MagicScan 4.5 should work just fine

I have not had luck w/ Magicscan. I downloaded it but
the scanner does not show up or Twain.
I find the plug in for twain in the plugins folder (it is one out of 3 plug ins there) and the other two show up but not twain.
Nothing else shows up either.

I am going back to photoshop 4 since I dont really have any time. I have customers backing up. but any other ideas would be appreciated.

The problem is MagicScan installs itself in all the wrong places!

Move its components so that you have:
The UMAX application itself: UMAX MagicScan DA 4.5

The UMAX plug-in " UMAX MagicScan 4.5" in Photoshop>Plug-ins>Import/Export.

In System/Preferences:
a folder called "UMAX" containing:
UMAX MagicScan 4 (the plug-in)
binuscan (folder)
UMAX MagicScan 4.5 alias
UMAX Saved Settings (folder)
RGB2LAB.LUT
RGB2CMYK.LUT
MagicScan (folder)

In System/Preferences:
a folder called "TWAIN" containing:
TWAIN Preferences
Source Manager
MagicScan 4.5 TWAIN
UMAX MagicScan 4

In System/Preferences:
a a folder called "UMAX Profiles"

But as Buko said this will only work with a bootable OS 9.2.2 (or earlier) System but not in Classic under OSX.
