Anyone has any info about 16 bit RGB? What’s the advantage of 16 bit vs 8 bit? I’ve seen nothing in the documentation about this.

but you need to sart with 16bit data

coverting 8 bit to 16 bit will just give you twice as much 8 bit data

OK I see. Anyway though to tell when opening a new image whether it is an 8 or 16 bit image. Say an image from a digital still camera for instance.

Doesn’t it appear in the title bar? Alas, I am not able to get to my Mac right now.

Claude,

Photoshop > Image menu > Mode > (8 bits/channel; 16 bits/channel).

Not all digital cameras can record 16 bit images.

Ooops!

Yes, it’s right there on the title bar. The window wasn’t’t open wide enough when I checked.
