How Do I smooth out the rough edges on my pictures

Every time I select a image using any tool, & I move that selection to a knew back ground , it leaves jagged edges.

How do i smooth out those edeges

Make sure Anit-Aliasing is turned on for the tool you select with.

or make sure that there is a sublevel layer that will fill in the gaps if it fits in with workflow and composition
