I have an image which I created in Photoshop which is circular, at the moment it is on a sqaure canvas with a transparent background.

When I go to use this image in Marcomedia flash though the background shows up as white.

Is there any way of either saving a circular image or making sure the background really is transparent in Flash?

Every image is square (or rectangle), you need to save as a giff or png with transparency setting. Try the save for web otion, or use image ready that comes as part of photoshop.
