Jewelry and food would be so different, as far as surface texture goes, that you might want to separate into two threads: Color correction for food, and even a particular item of food, like ice cream. Then another Color correction for Jewelry. It would be easier to open discussion on a focused subject as different categories would have at least a few techinques that are specific for each category.

You might want to start with an internet search on keywords: ‘Product Photography Color Correction.’

I would think that calibrating your monitor would be the first step.
