I’ve created an image with transparency in PS 7 and saved it as a B&W TIFF. When I import it into InDesign, it shows up as a "non-opaque" object though it’s been flattened.

Will this give the printer a problem? I’m not sure what to do to prepare this to send to the print shop.

TIA,
Janet

Why don’t you just place the PSD or layered tiff.

By flattening you are loosing the transparency

Apparently not–it shows up as "non-opaque" in InDesign. Basically I’m wondering whether this will effect its ability to be printed.

Not if the printer is up-to-date with their gear.

I place layered PSDs and tiffs all the time never had a problem.

the transparency might give older or non Adobe complient RIPs trouble.

My InDesign experience is limited so this might not be the answer, but is your tiff in Bitmap mode? Change the color of the box it’s in to white or whatever in ID’s Color palette.

You might get better answers on the ID forum.

Thanks, Buko & Ed Hannigan–I’ll try the ID forum as well.
