I have a Photoshop CS user who’s suffering from slow flyouts on his Photoshop toolbar.

It’s taking an unusually long time to get the flyout palette to show up when clicking on a tool in the toolbar.

Tried repairing permissions, in case it was a systemwide problem, but that wasn’t the solution.

Mac is a G4 1.25 gHz with 768 MB of RAM running 10.3.3

Thanks!

Try quitting Photoshop, trashing the preferences and relaunching.

Updating to 10.3.4 would be a good idea in any event,

Try Repairing Permissions (with Apple’s Disk Utility) BEFORE and AFTER any system upgrade as well as BEFORE and AFTER installing any software that uses an installer.

I know it sounds like OS X voodoo, and it is; but it fixes and prevents a bunch of problems.

Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.

How would putting the RAM allocation down help Photoshop run faster?

The user’s main complaint is that it had been working fine and then "all of the sudden" it’s running much slower.

If it’s set too high, the OS will be starved of RAM and everything will slow down.

"All of a sudden" type of problems mean corrupted preference files in 99% of the cases.
