Hello,
When I try to run Photoshop CS from a limited user account on Windows XP Pro, I get this error message:

"Current user account does not have privileges to perform product activation"

I installed Photoshop with an admin account. Photoshop activated just fine at the end of the install and works just fine with my admin account.

I found a KB article that said to set the Adobe LM service to start automatically. This solved the problem, but I don’t want that service running all the time on my machine. Is there a proper solution to this issue?

Thanks!

PS: I’ve tried doing a complete uninstall and reinstall. Same issue.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal behavior?

yes it is. the LM service only runs when PS is running, not all the time.

Thanks, dave. Just wanted to make sure my install didn’t go haywire.

BTW, my problem seems to be solved 🙂 I installed the Adobe LM security patch and now Photoshop launches fine with my limited user account. Maybe the patch changed some permissions on the service to enable my user to start it? Not sure, but it works.
