Here’s my problem. When I try to startup Photoshop 7, it pops up the startup applet and runs through everything like normal. Then when it’s finished initializing the color preferences the startup applet dissapears like it’s going to put me into photoshop, but then the whole program just shuts down. I’m running the photoshop 7 upgrade on top of photoshop 6 on windows 2000 platform. I’ve tried uninstalling both Photoshop 6 and 7 and reinstalling them both, but it reinstalled with the same problem. Any ideas on what’s wrong and how to fix it? Thanks.

Also, I can run Photoshop 6 perfectly fine, just not 7.

Try Deleting the Preferences file (as per the FAQs) by holding Ctrl+Alt+Shift as you fire up Photoshop. When you reinstalled it would have just picked up the old prefs file.
