Need help with a photo effect

I’m trying to figure out how to get the effect where the horizontal lines are screened over a pic like banner at the top of this page-
<http://sports.yahoo.com/>
Basically the screen part is no problem; I’m just trying to figure how to make the repeating lines. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

That is a halftone line-screen effect.
Andromeda make a range of filters (Series 3 Screens) that can produce a similar effect: <http://www.andromeda.com/>

Or you could try Photoshop’s Sketch/Halftone Pattern on a duplicate Layer in Screen or Darken mode.

I’d just create them in Illustrator and paste them in as pixels, then use layer effects, blending modes, and layer masks to play with the effect … such as step 6 of the tutorial above.
