history not working

Hi,
Is anyone having a problem with the history, as mine is always on one step only!!!, what can i do to fix this!.

ie if i select the brush tool and do paint somethings witht the brush, the only history step says ‘brush tool’.

Is there anything i am doing wrong.

Maybe your history state is set just to one? Check on the first window in Preferences (Photoshop>Preferences>General, or keyboard shortcut: apple+K). I think the Photoshop default setting is 20 history states.
