Font colour remains at grey

I have just installed Photoshop CS2 on a Windows XP system. I am trying to change the colour of the fonts I use. The defaukt is grey and it seems to make no difference how many colours I try and select the outcome is still only grey.
Can anyone help?

Your image mode may be set to grayscale. Try going to the menu:

Image>Mode>RGB Color
