When I feather with a value of more than two pixels, my computer freezes.

I’m using Photoshop 5.5 on a G4 tower with 101 gigabytes of free space and 640 megs of RAM.

Photoshop’s size is 20,000 k Minimum and 70,000 k Preferred.

I tried a different version of Photoshop when restarting from my internal drive, with the same freeze while trying to feather with a value over 2 pixels.

I ran Diskwarrior and Tech Tool 3.09, also to no avail.

I threw away the Prefs file from within Photoshop, and the Adobe Photoshop Paths file from inside the main Preferences folder, but the computer still freezes.

I also restarted with extensions off, but it still freezes.

I even deleted the program from the computer (along with the Adobe Photoshop Paths folder from the main Preferences folder), and reinstalled the program from the c.d., but it still freezes.
