I am relatively new to Photoshop so please bear with this question…I feel silly enough asking it!

When working with Layers, and you have the finished product completed, should one initiate a Merge of those Layers of does this happen automatically during the save?

Thanks!

If you save your image file as a TIFF, PSD or PSB, your layers will be preserved. You would need to merge them or flatten the file, if that is what you desire.

I just keep all my layers, but then I generally don’t deal with the web.

Thanks Ramon! I am more often than not saving them as .JPG’s. So therefore I need not Merge them prior to a final save of the finished image?

JPEGs do not support layers; if the save as JPEG action is successful, it will have flattened your layers automatically.
