I’m working with a B/W image that has great tonal range across it’s bottom but going upwards, the grays take over and are at it’s worst at the top. Gradually. Nothing new.

Question is how to fix this? I had a similar situation a few years ago that was easily fixed by using a combination of the Gradiant Tool and Quick Mask maybe… but then I can’t remember for sure.

All tips and advise are most appreciated.

BTW: PS 7.0.1/Mac OS X 10.3.9

Create an adjustment layer and use the gradient tool in the layer mask
