Down loading NEF files

I must be missing something really studip. Can’t get NEF (nikon elec. image files) from D100 to open with PS Elements. Tried ‘open as..’ with no success. Tried RAW format, TIFF format, with no success. Enlighten me!

Gotta use a plugin. Elements won’t do them solo.
NikonView has plugin AFAIK.

nikon electronic format (NEF)is the equivalent of raw format. You should be able to convert your raw files to tiff files IN THE CAMERA…you will them be able to use them in elements.If you take your photos at high (HI)instead of raw they are saved as a tiff and you can import them directly.

Install Nikon View that came with the camera. There is a NEF plug in included with View.
