Is there an easier way to lasso a person out of a picture, than just tracing it with the mouse.

You are using the best consumer-level professional imaging software in the world, and it’s impossible to isolate a simple element. Stunning revelation, isn’t it?

Hint: mask, copy, layer…

Also: try using the pen tool to create a good clipping path, convert to a selection and go from there.
