I’m finding this as well, and it’s extremely annoying. Can’t vouch for CS2 because I went straight from CS1 to CS3, but I just jumped from using CS3 on a Powermac G5 to CS3 on a new (intel) macbook pro and I don’t remember the hiding problem manifesting on the G5… so maybe it’s an intel issue?
Of course that could just be my memory playing me false.
Either way, it really needs to be fixed.
