Long delay when opening file to retrieve image.

There is always a long pause after selecting file and then retrieving the image file. Everything else if good except to open file from the file menu.

I have noticed this issue on 4 pc’s now so it has to be in the program itself.

What can I do to eliminate this pause. It’s drives me crazy. This occurs only wnen I first open photoshop.
