How much memory? Vista with PS CS2 or CS3

I am planning on building a new computer after Vista is released and the current plan is to install 2GB of DDR2 memory. Should I consider installing 4GB or will I not notice any improvement? What does CS2 or CS3 recommend?

The computer will most likely be a Core 2 Duo (E6600) with a Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 motherboard and Corsair RAM.

Q: "How much memory?"

A: "More."

Explanation: Maybe Photoshop will only be able to address a certain amount, but it never hurts to be able to run more, other applications at the same time.

Get all you can afford and/or that will fit.

If you install 4 GB of RAM, you have the option under XP Pro (or Vista, I understand) to add the /3GB switch to the windows command line in boot.ini. This allows Photoshop to access about 2.7 GB of memory instead of 1.7 GB, which is a Good Thing. In addition, memory beyond the 1.7 GB or 2.7 GB level can be indirectly used by Photoshop to cache the scratch file. The more RAM you have, the more caching will occur. This, too, is a Good Thing.

In another thread, someone said you don’t even need the /3GB switch with Vista; it will use all 4 GB of RAM automatically and make up to 3 GB (less some overhead) available to PS.
