Unwanted or unequal borders

When I print photos on (4×6 for now) I get unequal borders around the photo. I selected borderless but still get unwanted white borders on both sides but not the top and bottom. How do I correct this and #1 get the same sized borders all around and #2 print a borderless with no borders on any side?

It would be helpful to know your printer make and model, size of image (pixel dimensions and resolution) and size of paper.
