Very recently, if I use any one of the ‘enhance’ features of Elements, the picture comes back extremely pale, washed out. This occurs with any of the ‘auto’ selections of the ‘enhance’ menu. I am running the program on a very recently installed Windows XP Professional platform and Elements 2.0. I did not have any problems such like this with Windows 98 SE but, for a while, the problem did not exist with XP either. I Uninstalled the program an reinstalled twice, but the problem is still there. Any suggestions?

Ferdinando,

You may have changed the value for midtones. Open a Levels Adjustment Layer, double click on the middle eyedropper and make sure the value is right around 128.

If the above wasn’t true, try deleting the Preferences file.
