Hi,

Just wondering if there is any information as of yet to whether when one imports in an obj file into the 3D layer that they can paint directly onto the obj and export maps or just paste an already created map onto the obj file and then edit from that point??

If it’s the former then Photoshop must support and recognize UV-Maps on some level or another?!?

Thanks much

Hi,

Russell Brown now has a 3D composition tutorial.

It would be great if Photoshop Extended included Deep Paint like functionality, but it doesn’t. I think the 3D will be good for some compositing with photographs, but in the manual it states something like CS3 Extended is not a texturing program. As far as I can tell, you can’t export texture maps that came in with your file individaully for use with other programs. If you could that would be a great boon as you could bring in your model with a texture map template applied, texture the model in Photoshop and see how it looks on it, then export the map for use in your favorite 3D apps.
