I’m trying to create a partially transparent solid white gif. It’s used for the background of a menu item so the underlying page shows through while the menu is expanded.
Right now I create a new image with a transparent background, create a new layer, fill the new layer with solid white, then save it at varying transparency levels from 10 to 100 in steps of 5. I must be doing something wrong becasue above 50% transparent the web page renders it as solid white, and below 50% transparency the web page renders it as cmopletely transparent.
I didn’t find anything to sort this out with google yet. If someone here could provide a url with clear instructions, or explain it here, I would be very appreciative.
My web page code is:
#menu dl {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
background:transparent url(opaque50.png);
}
* html #menu dl { /* ie */
background: transparent url(opaque.gif);
}
Thank You,
Mike
