Photoshop freezes when trying to open Sting (.STN) file

I have some old .stn files in my images folders left over from older versions of Genuine Fractals that are creating some problems. When I try to open these files via photoshop (CS3 or CS2) photoshop freezes up. I would like to just delete these files from my folders but that doesn’t work either, I have tried deleting them via bridge and Windows explorer, with the same results, a frozen program. Does anybody have this problem or possibly a solution?

I am running VISTA, CS3 and Genuine Fractals 5.0 on a PC.
