Hi,
I am scanning some b&w photos (Color Mode: Greyscale / Output Resolution: 1200 dpi). I have 2 questions:
1. What image mode should I select while saving the scanned images? In CS3, under Image menu/Mode menu item, they have options such as 8Bits/Channel, 16Bits/Channel and 32Bits/Channel. Which one is idea if you plan to later run filters/plugins on images?
2. Is saving b&w images at 1200dpi overkill? What dpi should I choose? Some old photos are as small as 1"X1". I may later enlarge, print these photos. I heard people say that when you scan photos, select the highest dpi that you can. Is this true?
These are some basic/fundamental questions and I’d appreciate your feedback.
Thanks!
