Every day a 100 dollar 12 mp camera

What is going on? Every day I get an email from shop.com, buy.com, and others offering another 12mp camera for a hundred. Canon, Kodak, Pentax, not sure i’ve seen Nikon yet.

Are they all going to 16 for 300 or something?

New models for Summer 2009 on the way perhaps, or just trying to move the inventory which didn’t sell at Christmas?

I’m pretty sure the clearance was over about six weeks ago. These 100 dollar cameras a re full featured, too, big zoom, shake compensation, pretty much the whole eight yards, no great glass or anything but very suitable for the amateur.

I expect something big this year. I haven’t seen any Foveon news lately.

I don’t see the point of going beyond 16 mp in a Bayer sensor.
