I have just worked on an image in Lightroom 2. It has a very dark, smooth background with a subtle gradation. At 100% it looks perfectly smooth, but when I open the file in Photoshop, the gradation looks horrible; very coarse and I see banding.
I don’t understand why this happens, because I use the same color profile in both applications: ProPhoto RGB. The colors look the same, but the banding is terrible.
I have a deadline later today, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
