Best monitor res?

During a recent to and fro about cam res I got to thinking that perhaps there is a best screen res, using 1024 at the moment and It’s a bummer not being able to see much at 100% even if Iit is only 4 Mpx. Wonder how 8Mpx users get on?.
Any one have any clues?

Well, if you’ve got cash to burn, there’s always the 30" monitor:

But even it can’t display a 6 megapixel image at 100% without clipping the edges.

Speaking of which, Apple’s Cinema Display (along with PowerMac G5) just had a revision. Displays are cheaper, and G5 are speedier !

It’s a bummer not being able to see much at 100%

Why? If you want "the big picture", you get an accurate view at the integral magnifications, 50%, 25% etc.
