The new Epson R2400 printer is supposed to print B&W prints like nothing before it:

It’s out of my price range, but it sounds really interesting. I’ll wait a few years ’til the technology flows down to the low end printers. 🙂

HP has been using a specialized gray scale cartridge for years. Available not just in the top of the line models but mid priced ones as well. One of the major reasons I bought my HP Photosmart 7760 was the outstanding quality of the Black & White images using the HP #59 cartridge. I am curious to see how Epson’s effort stacks up against the existing HP system.
