Shadows and Highlights – PSE 3 vs PS CS

How does the Shadows and Highlights tool in PSE 3 compare with PS CS? I am not a professional but I find that I use this functionality quite a bit with a friends PS CS. I’m thinking of purchasing PSE 3 (for Mac) as PS CS is too expensive.
