I’m a Newbie and I just created my first Slide Show on a DVD using Elements and Premiere Elements, but some of the images were too big for the TV screen. What is the optimum image size for a TV screen?

Thanks,

Hi.

I have found that 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 work fine on a traditional width screen. If you are using a wide screen, then change these proportions to match.

Thanks for the reply, Roy. After I made the post, I decided to search the Web (probably what I should have done in the first place) and at http://developer.msntv.com/Designing/tvsrnres.asp they say the "Safe" area is 544 X 372 and present some figures to show how they arrived at that.

Another site http://www.scantips.com/basics1f.html says the "correct" image size is 640 X 480. It then goes on to say that in order to show the entire image it should be no wider than 576 pixels with the height floating no larger than 480.

I guess I’ll do some experimenting with all of these figures and see what looks best.

I have great respect for Scantips, and their info is always spot on, but I can assure you that the sizes I quoted do work on both of my DVD players, 1 Phillips and 1 Multo-Cheapo. However in future I will use those Scantip settings.
